The Argus Fertilizers 2023 Caspian, Black Sea and eastern European markets conference was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on 13-15 September.
More than 400 representatives from 250 companies and 44 countries gathered to discuss trends and developments in the region’s fertilizer sector.

The event began with a welcome reception hosted by IK Group, providing the perfect setting for delegates to network and build partnerships across the fertilizer supply chain.
Argus Vice-President for Fertilizer Business Development Oliver Hatfield assessed the current situation on the global market, speaking in detail about the evolution of and outlook for the nitrogen, phosphate and potash segments in various regions.
Roman Molchanov, Country Chief Executive for CTD in Baltic Countries of Inspectorate Estonia AS (Bureau Veritas Group) described the changes in certification of fertilizers in the context of new EU legislation.
CerTrust’s Business Development Manager, Auditor Alexey Chigin, spoke about the common approach and difficulties within the EU 2019/1009 (FPR) regulation.
The development of central Asian markets was considered during the second session, which featured reports by delegates from IK Group, Kazphosphate, KazAzot, KMG PetroChem, Alchemic, Amanat Group, ACWA Power and Argus.
After a lunch hosted by Amanat Group, the discussion continued with a session dedicated to fertilizer Black Sea and eastern European markets. Speakers from Indorama, Altın Ates Group, Toros Agri Industry and Trade Co, Armaiti Group, Polish Agro, Stamicarbon and Argus highlighted the main development trends and challenges of fertilizer markets in Turkey, Poland, Russia and Georgia, as well as the decarbonisation in mineral fertilizer production in the region.
A busy day of meetings and presentations ended with a cocktail reception at the City Lights Bar of the InterContinental Istanbul hotel, hosted by Quest Group, where attendees networked in the informal atmosphere and enjoyed the beautiful city views.
On the second day of the conference, delegates discussed fertilizer logistics transportation issues, attended by Murat Seitnepesov, President of Greater Caspian Association, Aleksandr Shevyakov, Head of Planning and Operations at the Caspian Container Company, Alexander Gaganov, Chief Business Development Commercial Officer, Dry Bulk and Grain of OTEKO, Yusif Ramazanov, Head of Department of ADYExpress, Mamuka Murjikneli, General Director and Chief Executive of Wondernet Express Investment Group and representatives from Argus.
